Lucettes

Start date: December 8, 2024 11:00 - 16:00

Would you like to do medieval crafts? Come Lucets at Radboud Castle! A lucet is a kind of fork with two prongs around which you wrap threads. You can compare it to punnicking. In the Middle Ages it was widely used to make coat fasteners. Lucets is included in the museum visit.

Description

Lucette has been popular for centuries. It is quick to make, you can carry it around easily, and the cords can be used for anything. Since zippers had not yet been invented and buttons were only for rich people, in the Middle Ages people mainly used them to button clothes. Trouser pockets didn't exist yet either, so people also used the cords to hang things on their belts. Handy, isn't it?
